Students following the part-time evening Bachelor’s Degree in Work and Human Resources, run by the Centre for Labour Studies at the University of Malta, visited Koperattivi Malta’s, the Apex organisation of local cooperatives, office in Qormi on 11 November 2021.

They discussed the various types of cooperatives, with a particular reference to worker cooperatives which are organisations that are owned and run by their own worker members.

Students Perignea Axisa and Michela Galea delivered a presentation on the theme, which was followed by a discussion, led by Mr Louis Zammit, President of KM as well as members of the Koperattiva Tabelli u Sinjali tat-Traffiku (KOPTASIN), which is provisional worker coop set up in 1996 within the public sector.

The visit was coordinated by Professor Godfrey Baldacchino, who is currently teaching a study unit dealing with worker participation and employee involvement.
