Students following the part-time evening Bachelor’s Degree in Work and Human Resources, run by the Centre for Labour Studies at the University of Malta, visited Koperattivi Malta’s, the Apex organisation of local co-operatives, office in Qormi on 11 November 2021.
They discussed the various types of co-operatives, with a particular reference to worker co-operatives which are organisations that are owned and run by their own worker members.
Students Perignea Axisa and Michela Galea delivered a presentation on the theme, which was followed by a discussion, led by Mr Louis Zammit, President of KM as well as members of the Koperattiva Tabelli u Sinjali tat-Traffiku (KOPTASIN), which is provisional worker coop set up in 1996 within the public sector.
The visit was coordinated by Professor Godfrey Baldacchino, who is currently teaching a study unit dealing with worker participation and employee involvement.
