Award in Co-operative Principles and Governance

This programme is designed to raise awareness of the Co-operative Model within the context of Malta. The history of the Co-operative Model as well as the internationally accepted principles and values of co-operative will be taught. The programme will also cover the structure and governance of the Co-operative Model as well as successes within the local context.

This accredited course is designed to raise awareness of the Co-operative Model within the context of Malta. The history of the Co-operative Model as well as the internationally accepted principles and values of co-operative will be taught. The programme will also cover the structure and governance of Co-operative Models as well as successes within the local context.

 

The course will include both trainer-led assessments as well as self-assessments: – Continuous activities (individual, one to one and/or small group) to encourage the learners to assess and reflect on their individual competency in the skills covered throughout the programme – Self-assessment through multiple choice quizzes after each learning component. – Individual Presentations on key learning components assigned by the tutor – The Grading System shall consist of: Grade A – Distinction (85 – 100%) Grade B – Merit (75 – 84%) Grade C – Credit (65 – 74% ) Grade D – Pass (50 – 64%)

What you'll learn

The learner will be able to: a) Increase their knowledge of the History of the Cooperative Model and its influences on current practices b) Understand the Cooperative Model Values & Principles c) Increase Understanding the different types of Cooperatives d) Gain knowledge on the theory and practice of Cooperative Governance e) Increase awareness of local Cooperatives.

The learner will be able to: a) Apply their knowledge of the Cooperative Model appropriately and differentiate between the Cooperative Model and other existing organisational structures such as Voluntary Organisations, Public Limited Companies etc. b)Identify appropriate strategies and decision-making based on the universal Cooperative Values & Principles c) Demonstrate their understanding of Cooperative Structure and Governance

Experience Needed

B1 Intermediate Level in Understanding and Spoken English Targeted towards persons interested in the Cooperative Sector.
